Split-Screen in Black Ops 6 Zombies and Multiplayer
Black Ops 6 does support split-screen multiplayer for both Zombies and Multiplayer modes, though Activision hasn’t made it particularly easy to find. In fact, the setup process can be a bit confusing, requiring additional accounts and a few steps to get going. Here’s everything you need to know to start playing split-screen on the couch with friends or family.
Requirements for Split-Screen in BO6
- Console Limitations: Split-screen is only available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, so it won’t work on PS4, Xbox One, or PC.
- Multiple Accounts: You’ll need separate Xbox or PlayStation accounts beyond your main one, and possibly an additional Activision account for the second player. Set up extra accounts in advance to save time.
How to Enable Split-Screen in Black Ops 6
Follow these steps to activate split-screen in either Multiplayer or Zombies modes on BO6:
- Open Black Ops 6 and select either Multiplayer or Zombies from the main menu.
- Connect the second controller and sign in with a full Xbox or PlayStation account—guest accounts won’t work here.
- You may be prompted to log into an Activision account for the second player. Complete this step if prompted.
- Once the second player is logged in, their username should appear in the top-right corner next to the main player.
- Choose the mission or game mode, select Standard, and toggle Squad Fill if you want to add additional players online. To play with just your split-screen partner, leave Squad Fill off.
Note: Split-screen gameplay fills the entire screen, with each player occupying half of it. Currently, these modes cannot be played offline, and in multiplayer, you’ll likely play against bots rather than real players.
Split-Screen Limitations in BO6 Campaign
While Black Ops 6 includes a campaign, it’s designed only for solo play. Unfortunately, Activision has moved away from split-screen campaign co-op in recent titles, likely to encourage multiple purchases for players who want to play the story mode together. Many fans have voiced their disappointment with the decision, as split-screen campaigns were once a hallmark of Call of Duty games.
If you want to see the return of campaign co-op, consider sharing your feedback on social media. When fans voice their preferences, it sometimes leads to changes or even patches in future updates.
